Stay on Target - Punishing One Squad list

With payday being this week I treated myself (finally) to the Punishing One expansion for X-Wing.   Now I’d wanted this ship ever since it was first announced mainly because it lets you fly everyone’s favourite toilet roll covered Bounty Hunter Dengar.

On getting the ship I knew I had to run Dengar as a Scum alternative to my Outrider list, which I run for the Rebels.  With that in mind I had to pair him up with two smaller ships, namely 2 Syndicate Thugs in Y-Wings (Who must really get along with Bounty Hunters and they also feature in my 4-LOM list).  This is what I came up with...

Dengar (33)
Punishing One (12)
Gonk (2)
Push the Limit (3)

Syndicate Thug (18)
BTL-A4 (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Unhinged Astromech (1)

Now with the Y-Wings being kitted out as they are didn’t leave me with a lot of points to upgrade poor old Dengar, especially after I’d paid out 12 points to give him the Punishing One title card.  However I had to try out the new Gonk Droid crew card so that went straight in as an upgrade.  Having an ability to get shields back is always a good option and if I can use me early actions in the game to start charging some shield tokens up on him they’ll be there ready to use later when I need them.

Push the Limit also seemed like a no brainer as again it could let me get a shield back in 1 turn in exchange for some stress or allow me to charge or transfer a shield and then perform another action.  The Punishing One title, if a little pricey increases my primary weapon value by 1.  Now on a ship that has no cannon or turret upgrade option this seemed like a good deal.
I need to play this list now (as well as many others) so I’m intrigued as to how it will do but I’m excited to find out.

What do you think of the list?  Would you change anything, or do you use Dengar and if so how do you kit him out?  Comment below.

What's on my painting table? - Lascannon Marines

This Saturday I managed to finish painting the two remaining members of my Devastator Squad, namely these two armed with Lascannons.  These finish my Anti-Tank  Devastator Squad option and will sit alongside my two Missile Launchers.

Stay on Target - X-Wing Sqaud Lists

Although I’ve been playing a lot of 40K recently I did find time last week to play a couple of games of X-Wing and that got me working on a few new lists (One for each faction) using some of the new ships that have come out over the past few months.   Here’s what I came up with

REBELS

Dash Rendar  (36)
Outrider (5)
Mangler cannon (4)
Recon specialist (3)
Predator (3)

Gemmer Sojan (22)
A-wing Test Pilot (0)
Chardaan refit (-2)
Autothrusters (2)
Outmaneuver (3)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Chardaan refit (-2)
Autothrusters (2)
Determination (1)
Outmaneuver (3)

I found this list was ok but as the A-Wings don’t really have a lot of fire power they didn’t do a lot of damage (I was up against an Imperial list).  It’s a variant on one I entered in a local X-Wing tournament.  I’m considering dropping the A-Wings and putting in two Gold Squadron Y-wings with TLT’s instead.  My other option is to try and get Tycho into the list in place of one of the A-Wings.  I’m happy with my Dash build though.  The Outrider title lets him sit back and dish out a lot of hits with his Mangler cannon whilst having 2 focuses is also a real help.

SCUM

4-LOM (27)
Mist Hunter (0)
Tractor Beam (1)
Shield upgrade (4)
Outlaw Tech (2)
Push the Limit (3)

Syndicate Thug (18)
BTL-A4 (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Syndicate Thug (18)
BTL-A4 (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Binayre Thug (12)

I had more success with this list.  The two Y-wings with TLT’s and unhinged Astromech’s are the hard hitters.  The title card along with the TLT’s lets you do three shooting attacks against an enemy ship (As long as the target is in your primary firing arch).  This can really knock some evade and focus actions from them.   4-LOM is built for stress so I’ve tried to take advantage of that.  The Outlaw Tech upgrade lets you get a free focus if you get stressed which is nice in combination with Push the Limit.  I found that the Tractor Beam can be a bit hit and miss.  It’s a shame you can’t choose where the ship ends up (Your opponent gets to choose one of two options on what to do with the ship) as this backfired on me a few times as they could move there ship so that they can get LOS on one of my ships rather than crash into an asteroid.   Because of 4-LOM’s ability to transfer a stress token onto a ship at range one of him I use the Binayre Pirate as his Wingman for that very purpose (Unless an enemy ship is in range of course)

IMPERIALS

The Inquisitor (25)
TIE/v1 (1)
Adaptability (0)
Autotrusters (2)

Epsilon Pilot (15)
Comm Relay (3)

Epsilon Pilot (15)
Comm Relay (3)

Alpha Squadron Pilot (18)

Alpha Squadron Pilot (18)

This is a brand new list which I’ve yet to try out and it marks the first time I’ve returned to using Imperials since I entered my first X-Wing tournament with a list of 4 TIE Interceptors.  The main reason I wanted to do this list was to try out the First Order TIE’s and The Inquisitor.  The Comm relays on the FO/TIE’s are really handy as you can store an evade token until you need it.  The interceptors are there to add some extra firepower to the list.  I may tweak the list a little so I can get Push The Limit on the Inquisitor, but that may mean sacrificing a ship to do so.  Any way I’m itching to give this list a go.
