What's on my painting table? - Warp Spiders and War Walker

I managed to finish painting the final two units for my Eldar Combat Patrol last weekend but have only now got around to taking any images of them.  so with no more delays.... here they are!

My War Walker strides over some Eldar ruins and piles of coal on a snow covered terrain.

Rear view.

My Warp Spiders unit.  When deciding the colour scheme for them I took inspiration from a certain spider themed super hero, so there is a subtle amount of blue and red in there.

A closer view of two of the Warp Spiders.

I decided to paint the canopy green on my War Walker.  I used 'Ard Coat to make the wash appear clearer.  It seemed to do the job.

What's on my Painting Table? - Eldar Combat Patrol

I've been very busy lately with work which has meant I've not had any time to get hobby things done over the past few weeks, however today I finally found some time to sit down and work on painting up some of my new units which I'll be using for my Eldar Combat Patrol in my local clubs 40K league.

So far I've not actually been able to play any combat patrol games but I'm hoping to get my first one played in two week time when I finally have some free time to myself to do some gaming.  Anyway here's some photos of what I've been working on.

My Combat Patrol features a War Walker and a unit of Warp Spiders

My Warp Spiders are getting a paint job that has been inspired a certain friendly neighbourhood spider.... man

I've given the canopy of my War Walker a green tint using a wash.  I applied some 'Ard Coat to the glass after this photo was taken which made it more transparent.

My Warp Spiders still have a way to go until they are finished.

Another photo of them.

The base of my War Walker features some Eldar scenery.  I decided to paint the rocks black to make them look like coal as this is reflected in my Craftworlds background.

Close up of the pilot.

I'll post some photos of the finished units once they are done.  Until next time remember "Keep Calm and Re-Roll!"

Stay on Target - eXe Wing Tournament

This Saturday I entered the eXe-Wing Star Wars tournament which was being run by Kirton Games and hosted by Rygas Roughnecks.

Now I have to admit that I was a late entrant into the tournament, mainly due to me being undecided as to whether I wantes to go to it or the local Games Workshop stores Birthday Party.  Eventually I opted for the X-wing tournament (Which was definitely the right decision to make).

This would be the first X-Wing tournament I've entered or been to so I was a little apprehensive in going.  It has also been a g good few months since my last game. At first I was going to enter a Rebel list as I really wanted to try out the Millennium Falcon I had recently purchased, however as I had never played with the ship I thought it might me a bit silly to use it in a tournament.  As I had used my TIE Interceptors a fair bit I decided that I would go as Imperials and create a some what last minute list for them.  In the end I went with this...

Soontir Fel (27)
Push The Limit (3)

Carnor Jax (26)
Vetern Instincts (1)

Fel's Wrath (23)

Avenger Squadron Pilot (20)

TOTAL 100 Points

My Imperial squad for the tournament.  I decided to go with TIE interceptors.

I played four games during the tournaments, three of which I lost and one I won.  In the end I finished 16th out of 22.

It was a great day and I learned a lot from the other players and it was clear that I still have a lot to learn about this game and how to build a good list.  With that in mind I decided to put together a Rebel list which I'm going to start playing with and adjust as I go along.  I may then use it in the next tournament I enter.  Here's it is...

Dash Rendar (36)
Nien Numb (1)
Ion Cannon (3)

Tycho Cechu (26)

2 x Prototype Pilots (17 each)

I'm already thinking of was that I can tweak the list so I can give Tycho Push The Limit (Hoping I can use Chardon Refit cards to reduce the Prototype pilots costs down by 2, if not I may use that card to swap the prototype pilots for Green Squadron pilots, thus giving me some higher agility pilots).

My other option is to drop one of the A-wings and use the points to equip the reaming two with missiles.  I could also gibe the YT-2400 some more upgrades.

Anyway let me know what you think.

An don't forget we'll be demoing Star wars X-Wing as part of Exeter International Tabletop Day.
