IN A NUT SHELL

Roll for it! is a fun dice game where players take it in turns to roll their six coloured dice, which they then match with the cards in order to score points.  The first player to get 40 points wins.  Simple!

THOUGHTS

As with most tabletop games I first came across Roll for it! in a recent episode of Tabletop and decided that it looked like fun, so went down to my local Games Store and picked myself up a copy.  Later that day I played it for the first time with a few of my friends.

The game is incredibly easy to  play with the rules effectively being that each player has a unique set of 6 coloured dice.  On your turn you roll your dice and then match up what you rolled with the dice symbols on any of the three cards that are in play.  If your dice rolls match up with a card you take it and score the number of points on that card.  The cards with the lower probability of you rolling that combination (for example rolling six sixes!) score you more points.  Players can also assign rolled dice to cards, in the hope that they roll whichever number is needed in their next turn to secure that card and score the points.

Roll for it! not only relies on good luck but also a fairly mathematical mind as the more strategic gamer can attempt to work out the probability of them getting the various dice rolls and then determine which cards in play they wish to secure.

Like similar dice games such as Zombie Dice, Roll for it! is compact enough to be portable, so you can put it in your bag and crack it open in a cafe, pub or similar situation.  It's simple rules makes it easy to explain to any non gamers and the real beauty is that more than 4 people can play.  All you need is some extra coloured dice (which every hardcore gamer should have!).  It's suitable for all ages and has a lot of re-playability.  A deluxe version of the game is also available which comes with alternative art work, metal box and slightly larger dice.  However it is more expensive.
