With the release of The The Force Awakens fast approaching I thought I'd make some Star Wars themed posters.  Here are the ones's I've done.

Stay on Target - Tournament list

It's just over a month until I compete in my second competitive X-Wing tournament and this time around I've decided to play as Rebels and field my squad of A-Wings.  (In the first tournament I entered I played as Imperials and fielded a squad of 4 TIE Interceptors.  As it was my very first tournament i wasn't really sure what I was doing but I did manage to win at least 1 of my games.)

I've come up with a squad list (more on that in a minute) and unlike last time I have given it a few play tests and have been doing a few subtle modifications to it after each game to really try and maximize my force.  Here's the current list I'm playing with:

My aim with this list is to give my A-Wing as much protection as I can, hence that's why they've got Stealth Devices, especially with Gemmer Jojan who rolls 5 Defense Dice at range one and three and 4 at range two thanks to her special rules. 

I'm hoping the pulse missile can knock out an enemy chips and give Tycho and Jake space to out maneuver them with their speed. 

I've yet to test this list but I'm hoping to give it a go soon to see how it goes.

Stay on Target - Custom paint jobs for my A-Wings

Recently I've been working on my A-Wing fleet which I plan to use in an up coming X-wing tournament (being held in Exeter). As my current list contains two Green Squadron Pilots I decided to do a custom paint job on two of my A-Wing miniatures to help make them stand out and to make them fit with my list.  Here are the end results.

What's on my Painting Table? - Rainy day projects

It's been a rainy few days in Exeter which sucks if you want to do anything outside, or you enjoy the sun but is great for getting some hobby stuff done.  So that is exactly what I have been doing whilst the rain has been beating down.

I've had a few things that I've wanted to get finished for a while now but as any wargammer will tell you trying to get everything in your collection painted is a never ending task.  One thing I decided to try and finish was my Imperial Fists Tactical Squad.  I managed to get 8 of the 10 miniatures finished (See below) which leaves me with just the heavy bolter and one standard marine left to paint, then all my Imperial Fists in my display cabinet  will be finished (I can then move onto my Blood Angels and Imperial Knight).  Here are the results.

I also had some time to get some work done on my second Ork Stompa which I've been meaning to get  finished for a while now but never really had the motivation to do so.  Although it still has a way to go until it is finished I am now onto the wash and highlighting stage of painting this beast.

By the end of the day I had applied most of the washes and started to highlight the hull.  Still a way to go until this bad boy is finished, but at least I have another Stompa in my collection which is finished and ready to hit the battlefield!

Finally I even had some time to start painting my five Chaos Space Marine Terminators which are the final unit in my Chaos Space Marine collection that need painting.

These still have a long way to go!

IN A NUT SHELL 

Concept is a team game where you have to communicate an idea, film, book, animal, person, phrase, saying, object or song to the other players without using any words (apart from yes).  To aid you in this task you have a board with easily recognisable icons that you can combine together to get your concept across. 

THOUGHTS

Concept is a game that seems to be getting more and more popular as people hear about it.  The game's (please excuse the pun) concept is brilliant.  In teams (or as individuals) you take it in turns trying to get the others to guess an idea, object, film, book etc by using an array of icons on the handily supplied game board, oh and you can't say any words or make any noises (apart from Yes).  For example you may be given Jurassic Park as your concept.  So you may decide to put a counter on the Film icon and then one on the Book icon as well.  Next you could place a marker next to the icon of animals, but also the science icon and maybe the death icon as well. If one of the other players correctly guesses your concept they get a point (whilst you get two).

The great thing about this game is that literally anyone can play it.   I recently introduced it to some students during a table top session at a residential and they loved it.  In fact it was by far the most popular game of the session.  It's a great game to play during a dinner party or social gathering as you can really see how well you friends and family understand you explanation of something using only icons. 

The only thing I do find with this game is that it is a little bit pricey for what you get when compared with other games that cost around the price (such as Settler of Catan or King of Tokyo) where you tend to get a more content for your money.  That aside though Concept is a brilliant game and would make a great social gathering game.
